HOW TO CULTIVATE AN ENTREPRENEURIAL SPIRIT

An entrepreneurial spirit is a state of mind that drives an individual to find the courage and use their resources and full potential to take all the necessary measures to complete their project (company project, project within their own company or life project).

The stakes are so high that an entrepreneurial spirit has been recognised by the European Union as one of the eight key skills for lifelong learning.

What are the characteristics of an entrepreneurial spirit?

  • A clear vision

An entrepreneur is someone who, faced with a need they have noticed, will take action to perform the project. They have a clear vision and they move forwards. Their vision is what inspires them.

  • A dynamic approach

An entrepreneurial spirit is characterised by a dynamic approach. Creation and action are an integral part of the entrepreneur’s mindset. They are on the move, proactive, and anticipate events and find solutions before they occur. They take the initiative and take bold decisions, despite the risks, unknowns and fears.

  • A strong commitment

Being an entrepreneur is also about taking charge. It involves rallying the available forces and resources needed to carry out and support the project(s) that you want to implement, and not look for excuses not to act. It’s about giving yourself permission to bet on the future. The entrepreneur is willing to take, exercise and stand by their responsibility. They are free to make their own choices and stand by them, and not shift the burden onto other people.

  • A permanent improvement

Entrepreneurs are continuously making progress, and have this ability to learn, improve continuously, regularly update their knowledge, skills and beliefs, reconsider the situation often, learn from their mistakes and question their reality.

  • Agility and resilience

Entrepreneurs persevere despite the challenges they will have to face.

Consequently, they cultivate their agility and resilience so that they can adapt to change, face unexpected events, challenges and failures, and continue to move forward towards their vision.

  • A network

« Alone we go faster, together we go further »

One of the habits of entrepreneurs is to always be on the lookout for connections they can create, whether it is for their own project or to help others. Entrepreneurs are intermediaries who link up people who will have a positive impact on them and their business. They love a challenge.
