Conflict is an inevitable part of business. According to a 2008 CPP Global study, employees spend an average of 2.8 hours a week managing conflicts in the United States. It is therefore important to know how to manage these in order to minimise situations that may jeopardise team cohesion.<\/p>\n\n

Preventing conflicts<\/strong><\/h5>\n\n

Des signaux faibles apparaissent toujours avant un conflit : absences r\u00e9p\u00e9t\u00e9es, non communication d\u2019informations, retards dans les projets ou sur les dossiers, conciliabules, oublis d\u2019invitation dans une r\u00e9union ou d\u00e9sorganisation latente. Une fois rep\u00e9r\u00e9s, ces signes doivent \u00eatre trait\u00e9s. N\u2019h\u00e9sitez pas \u00e0 poser des questions en formulant votre ressenti. Par exemple\u00a0: \u00ab\u00a0je me sens mis \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9cart, j\u2019ai l\u2019impression qu\u2019il y a un dysfonctionnement.\u00a0\u00bb<\/p>\n\n

Communiquez\u00a0!<\/strong><\/h5>\n\n

Conflicts are resolved through communication. In tense situations, clearly identify your needs and requirements. Prepare a list of concessions that you are ready to make. Also ask your co-worker to clearly express their needs. Lastly, don\u2019t try to convince the other person but rather identify a solution, depending on the concessions you are willing to make.<\/p>\n\n

Keep some distance<\/strong><\/h5>\n\n

Dissect the causes of the conflict to better resolve it<\/strong><\/h5>\n\n

Rather than wanting to manage the conflict as a whole, it is better to try to break it down to understand it better. A conflict combines several components: professional, emotional, personal and organisational. Firstly, identify the different factors of the conflict as well as their type (professional, emotional, etc.). Secondly, deal with the components one by one in order to find the solutions adapted to each one.<\/p>\n\n

Call upon a third party<\/strong><\/h5>\n\n

If after all these attempts at defusion your conflict is still there, call upon a third person.
